Thoughts from Adam:
As I was thinking about low tide in relation to the actual event of the ebb and flow of the waters that surround our islands, I kept visualizing the clutter of the drift wood and treasures of sea glass. These items are forever a part of the coast line. The low and high tides of our lives can bring in similar items that metaphorically clutter up the coast lines of our lives. As we sift through these items. Others around us see it and experience it via sharing in relationship with one another. We never know, what seems to us as gnarled twisted up pieces of driftwood might become a beautiful work of art in someone else's life through genuine open honest sharing. God makes beauty from ashes. He takes our clutter of confusion and makes sense of it in other ways unfathomed by us. The fruit of the spirit as defined in Galatians 5:22-23 is irresistible to those who are thirsty for it. I believe that others can experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control through conversations with people in any situation if we trust God and engage in it. God will turn our discouragements into encouragements our insecurities into security our failures into accomplishments when we open our lives to one another. St. Francis of Assisi once said "Preach the Gospel to everyone, and if necessary, use words." As we journey through life together God is unfolding in us His gospel as we perceive it. We are living epistles to one another as we share our experiences in a fallen culture. I am thankful for high and low tides, I am thankful for the driftwood God allows into our lives, no matter how ugly and messy it appears to be. I am learning day by day that God has a special use for it and for us.
