Welcome to CTK Anacortes Youth Ministry.
Christ the King Community Church's mission statement talks about creating an authentic Christian community that... Our belief is that for this community to be authentic and biblical it must be multi-generational as we live out the "that..." part of our mission statement. This belief is central to the way we do youth ministry.
Recent studies on adolescence have concluded that one of the most effective and meaningful ways to help teens grow up into mature, healthy, Christian adults is for those teens to have several mature, healthy, Christian adults involved in their lives - beyond family members and teachers and pastors.
That's what we strive to do through our small group ministry, which is specifically for 7th-12th grade students. Each group has 1-2 adult leaders, and most groups have a host family. So every student in those groups has several adults who care about them, who are interested in who the students are and are becoming, who are more than willing to listen to and spend time with their students. And as one host put it, "The blessings definitely go both ways." Not only are teens benefiting from these relationships with host and small group leaders, the hosts and the leaders grow and learn, too!
If you would like to know more about this ministry, or would like to be part of it - as a student, host, or leader - please contact one of the youth staff!
